Seems that human beings have and maintain a tendency towards repetition of displays of cruelty that makes us, in addition to being predictable, monotonous in the manifestations of horror that we are capable of creating. One of those horrors, which has always accompanied us since we were aware of our existence, is war: the same war that changes places and towns but that survives as one of the healthiest and most active of the famous horsemen of the Apocalypse. We share this unfortunate activity with our cousins the chimpanzees who, unlike the bonobos who fix everything with a lot of sex, show the same tendency as us when it comes to war against neighbors in search of what the Germans of the early 19th century 20th century they called “living space” (Lebensraum). What Hitler did thanks to the word is well known. War in Ukraine, consequences and government measures And in that eternal, perennial, cruel and destructive war, the horrors are repeated with monotonous assiduity.
To review the acts of war cruelty is to delve into those dark depths of the human soul that we do not dare to recognize as existing and that, however, manifest themselves in all their splendor as soon as we give them the slightest opportunity. Are you horrified by images of Ukraine? Don't you know how it is possible for human beings to commit such atrocities? Look at your Costa Rica WhatsApp Number neighbor, your co-worker, the shopkeeper where you buy the fruit or the bakery who treats you so well: they are the ones who, without any problem, would do the same thing under the same circumstances. And don't be too quick to deny it: between the Russian soldier who shoots a bound countryman in the back of the head and that shopkeeper on your street there is only one difference, just one. That difference is called war. It has always happened, there and here: our gutters are full of those same corpses that today rise to life in the streets of any city in Ukraine . The graves of Katin have been emptied so that their dead can come to light again and the ovens of Dachau, Torgau or Auschwitz seem to want to light up again celebrating the fact that they are finally remembered.
And be careful: those same corpses could, without any problem, belong to Ukrainian collaborators with the Russians who have been left facing the hatred and resentment of those who have suffered the same horrors in their families. It has already happened and is happening today in many places that almost no one remembers. Ukraine: strange travel companions The world bleeds to death in orphan wars of headlines and television, but a review puts us in front of our mental apathy: Boko Haram, Syria, Palestine, Sahara, Somalia, Sudan, Kurdistan, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Burma, Mali, Nigeria, Afghanistan …..and other skirmishes that destroy the lives of child soldiers, Colombian guerrillas and entire generations that have grown up and starred in the images that we see today in Ukraine and that we can find in many other countries absent from the attention of this war.
